A different question from the verdict. Home Assistant can talk to a device locally and still need Dreame’s servers to get started, or for good. This is what the integration itself needs.

Yes, with one catch. You log in to Dreame once to get the local key. After that Home Assistant talks to the Dreame D9 directly, and the vendor's servers can go.

No core integration. The Tasshack HACS component offers a "Local" mode that takes only the robot's IP and its 32-character token, which you extract from the Mi Home / Dreamehome account it was paired with; its config flow states the map feature requires a cloud connection.

Question 08 · the company

Dreame’s track record.

Nothing on record. That isn’t a clean bill yet: it takes a proper look through the vendor’s changelog, and that hasn’t been done for Dreame. No documented removal found. Dreame has added secure-boot gates and silent PCB revisions that block rooting on newer units; that is hardening against modification, not withdrawing local control from hardware already sold. No source establishes continuous availability either, so unknown.

In plain words.

The D9 is one of the easiest robots to take off the cloud: a UART adapter and Valetudo, no soldering. As sold, though, pairing needs an account and firmware only arrives through the app. A local protocol exists and Home Assistant can drive it over the LAN once you have the token, but nobody documents what the robot does if Dreame's servers vanish for good.
